This festival will be run over the summer holidays by Swinford Tri Sports. The date(s) have not yet been finalised but it is most likely to be ran during late July or early August 2010. Objectives
The main objective is to promote and encourage people to participate in sport and to increase an awareness of the clubs and facilities available in the area.
It also aims to give people and their families a fun experience and to get the different clubs working together for a common purpose.
Primary Target Group
All ages but a particular emphasis on families and young people.
Events:
A calendar of events is presently being compiled. It is hoped that each sporting club in the area will get involved and do a presentation on their particular sport and run some event that will generate an interest and awareness of their clubs activities. Some of the events under discussion at the moment include:
- 10km fun cycle
- 5km fun run
- Kids mini triathon
- Football and Soccer competitions
- Golf
- Fishing
- Kayaking
- Swimming
- Treasure Hunt
- Volleyball
- Archery
- Road Bowling
- Street Orienteering
- Traditional games such as puc fada, wwlly throwing, pitch and toss.
It is also hoped to have some events for the younger children, such as bouncy castles and face painting etc.
The above are just some of the ideas under consideration at the moment.
