Swinford Cycling Club have ambitious plans to take on the legendary Malin to Mizen cycle this coming summer. If the 600km wasn’t enough of a challenge on its own, the club will attempt to cover the distance in under 24 hours! The club have provisionally marked late May/early June 2012 to undertake the cycle but training will begin in earnest in the New Year. It is important to note that this challenge is suitable for most riders - to help you get in shape for the summer event the club will be organizing a training weekend with a top coach in February 2012 and will lay out comprehensive training plans for those signing up to the challenge. If you or anyone you know would like to be a part of the team to tackle this challenge please drop a mail to info@swinfordtrisports.com to express your interest. If you don't fancy the full 600km cycle you can take part as a relay team. There will be support cars etc to cater for relay teams on the day.
As part of the warm up to the above challenge the club will be holding the N5 100km challenge on the morning of St Patrick's day (17th March 2011) and the N5 100 mile challenge on the morning of Good Friday (6th April 2012).
So why not set that New Years resolution early and sign up to complete a once in a lifetime achievement by cycling from one end of the country to the other!
